Dear Bears Families,
It has been such a pleasure getting to know your children – and all of you – this September. The Bears are off to a great start, learning about each other and becoming familiar with the routines of the day. I will be sharing more about the classroom soon, but today I have a few important items to convey:
1. Drop-Off – it is VERY important that children are dropped off in the classroom itself (not in the hallway) and that you make sure a teacher has seen your child arrive. Teachers will also want you to touch base if you have any info to convey – e.g., a potential cold coming on or a parent leaving for a business trip. If all the teachers are engaged, be sure to write a message in the composition book as you enter the room. And always feel welcome to stay a few minutes in the classroom to help your child settle in and make the transition to school.
2. Sign-In – be sure to sign your child in at drop-off. The sign-in book is just outside the office. We need to know who is picking up your child and at what time.
3. Pick-Up – when you pick up your child, please refrain from lingering. I understand that it can be very pleasant to watch your child at play, but children who have later pick-up times can become anxious and unsettled if they see their classmates’ parents but not their own. So, please stay no longer than 5 minutes in the classroom (or gym) when picking up your child. FYI – if you arrive when the class is in a circle time, please wait in the hallway so as not to disrupt the circle or find me/Manyi/Lauren to help if you need to leave immediately.
4. Family Photograph – please remember to bring in your family photo for the Bears family display.
Thanks for reading through this list – we so appreciate your staying on top of Collective news!
