Dear Families,

The Collective is a special place, and it takes all of us to keep it running. For families, this means that each parent must commit to accumulating 18 hours of work credit over the course of the school year. If you do not have a work-credit job that grants you Full-Time Exemption, you will be placed on a Saturday morning work team, with each team meeting 6 times a year. Additionally, you may earn credit hours by working on various committees or helping out at seasonal events (e.g., the annual Open House or the Kindergarten Forum) or by volunteering for certain special jobs that arise (e.g., office help or facilities projects). If you do earn credit outside of your Saturday work-team commitment, you may offset those hours by attending fewer than your allocated 6 work-team shifts.

VERY IMPORTANT: we are currently seeking parents to serve on the following committees:

Fundraising/Auction Committee –

The Fundraising Committee helps to plan and run fundraising events throughout the year with the emphasis on the annual silent auction. The Auction Committee is a subset of the Fundraising Committee and is responsible for running the annual silent auction, which is open to the public and runs for about one month online and ends with live bidding at the PSCCC annual gala in late winter. Work includes solicitation of auction items, running the online portion of the auction and the live silent auction at the annual gala, and follow-up. Auction work is done from early December though March with some follow-up after the gala. Attention to detail is a huge plus.

Gala Committee –

The Gala Committee plans, organizes, and oversees the Collective’s annual gala, which is typically held in late winter. If you have event-planning experience, we could really use your help!

Diversity Committee –

The Diversity Committee works to ensure that the Collective fulfills our mission to have a student and staff population that reflects the varied and complex makeup of the city we live in. Members help to recruit new families through listservs, posters, etc., to attend our annual Open House and apply to the Collective.  One member traditionally serves as the International Food Day Coordinator.

Please let me know if you are interested in joining any of these committees – we could really use the help. In the meantime, we will be announcing the Saturday work teams and their scheduled dates in the next couple weeks.

Thanks!

Martha
