Dear Rainbows and Bears Families,

Hard to believe, but Halloween is right around the corner – which means the Collective’s annual Halloween Parade for Rainbows and Bears!

For those of you new to the parade, it is a fun and low-key event, consisting of a 20-minute walk around the block singing Halloween songs, with the Rainbows and Bears wearing t-shirts (pulled over jackets) that they will have decorated in class. This year the parade will begin at 4:00 P.M. on Friday, October 31.

What you need to know:

Parents, caregivers, and family members are welcome to join the parade. Just come to the Collective and wait outside on the sidewalk, lined up along the curb. In years past, Bears and Rainbows have been frightened by walking out the door and facing a large crowd on the stoop, so that is why we ask you to wait on the sidewalk.

If your child does not attend school on Fridays, you (or a caregiver) are welcome to drop her/him off in the classroom at 3:45 P.M. to pull on the t-shirt and join her/his class for the parade. We just ask that you please head back outside and wait with the other parents/caregivers.

Please do not send your child to school in a costume for Halloween as costumes can be frightening to our younger children. However, you are welcome to change your child into her/his costume after the parade if you need to get ready for your own after-school festivities.

Please let us know if you are NOT planning to attend the parade, so that we can help prepare and plan for your child.

FYI – The Little Stars do not attend the parade as it a little too taxing for them.

Thanks so much!

Martha
