Dear Bears Families,

I hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving.  The Bears have arrived back at school today happy and ready to go!  They are having a wonderful morning, discussing their long weekends and the fun family activities they enjoyed.  And just before the break, they shared what they are thankful for, with family members and special toys leading the list.
I trust that you have been checking out the daily synopses of the Bears days, posted on the bulletin board as you walk into the classroom.  The Bears teachers have been very thoughtfully pursuing their curriculum of All About Me and My Family, with a special emphasis on diversity.  They have been engaging in class discussions about their families and reading books like “The Skin You Live In” and “I Like Me,” which sensitively explore differences and similarities we see in us.  The Bears shared their feelings about their skin colors in an experience chart, with comments like “My skin is so beautiful!”  It is exciting to see the Bears learn more about each other, discover similarities among themselves, and celebrate their diversity.  The Bears will continue with this curriculum, soon adding in the December holidays that different families celebrate.
VERY IMPORTANT!!  Parent-Teacher conferences for the Bears Room will begin on Tuesday, December 4, and run through Monday, December 10.  The sign-up sheet is posted just outside the classroom, to the right of the door.  Please be sure to sign up!
Cheers,
Martha
