Dear PSCCC Families,

As we prepare for International Food Day next week, this is a gentle reminder to please remember to make your Family Poster with your child this weekend and bring it to the Collective on Monday (November 17). If you haven’t picked it up already, the poster paper is located in the hallway, under the blue table outside the office.

Additionally, on International Food Day on Friday, November 21, please send your child to school with a small dish (6 to 8 servings) of food that reflects his/her heritage or background. Please make sure it is in a stackable, microwavable (if applicable) container indicating your child’s name/class and whether it should be heated. If your child is able to share a memory/story about the dish or its origin, this would be great. This is a way for children to learn more about their own culture/family and feel pride in sharing some of their background on a day where all types of food are celebrated. If you can follow this template (below) and hand this in to your child’s teacher also by Monday, November 17, we can properly prepare for the storytelling aspect of the day:

My dish is called _____ and the country of origin is______. The main ingredients are_______. This food is special to me because (share a memory).

Main dishes, side dishes, and desserts are all welcome. Please keep in mind that it must be a nut-free dish.

* Please note there will not be space available in the fridge that day for lunch bags, so please be sure your dish is one that your child will most certainly eat and enjoy.

Thank you for helping us with this special day.

Sincerely,
Tina (Juliette – Rainbows), Martha, and the Diversity Committee
