Dear PSCCC Families,

We are only 1 week away from our much-anticipated 2nd Annual Winter Benefit!  100% of proceeds will go towards tuition assistance for PSCCC families, supporting our mission to create a diverse community of children and families.

As we are all too well aware of, the cost of running a childcare collective in Brooklyn is high.  We see it in our tuition bills, we see it in the urgent emails calling for parent participation in Saturday shifts and office help and pretzel runs.   The past few years the Collective has made strident efforts to streamline our finances and hold down any sharp increases.  At the same time, we have worked hard to maintain our core values of community, play-based learning, dedicated teachers, and diversity.   If the Collective is unable to discount tuition for families who need it, what we are putting at risk are the very opportunities that diversity affords.

Since we were parent-founded in 1971, the Collective is a special place. But the reality is that for many of the families the Collective serves, the cost is high and at times beyond reach.  There are families who, this very year, should be receiving tuition assistance if our budget was large enough.  Next Saturday, let’s bid our best to make it so!

Last year we raised $17,000!  We would like to raise $25,000 this year.  Through ticket sales alone we have raised $7,500 thus far, so please go to our live auction site and bid often, and bid high!

There will be a DJ and a dance floor, open bar, delicious food, and bidding wars.  All in all, a worthy celebration.  We want everyone to be able to come, and if you truly can’t afford it, then pay what you can and come out for the night!

We look forward to seeing you all next Saturday, where we get a moment to celebrate and support the school’s mission.

Thanks for reading, and thank you all for the outstanding show of support!
